Pitik Bulag has teamed up with Child Rights Network (CRN) Philippines, and the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD) in organizing the Fight for Tobacco-Free Generation: Freestyle Comics and Editorial Cartoon Contest. Artists, editorial cartoonists, and comic artists are encouraged to submit their entries that resonates on the theme “Fight for a tobacco-free generation!” The subthemes are the following: “Exposing how the tobacco or vape industry targets the youth“, “Mental health and tobacco or vape use and dependence“, and “Raising tobacco or vape taxes to protect public health.”
Interested artists can join in either of the two categories: Junior Division (20 years old and below) and Senior Division (21 years old and above).
The participants are allowed to make one entry, either a comics strip or editorial cartoon based on the theme. The entry should be placed in the A4 format, landscape or portrait orientation, and at least 300 dpi. File size is preferably less than 3 MB. The medium of the entry can be either traditional or digital, and either colored or grayscale.
The participants shall submit their entry on the following link: https://bit.ly/contestTFG. The deadline for submission of entries is on April 25, 2025 (11:59 p.m.). Late entries will not be accepted.
The selection of Top 25, Top 10, and Top 3 participants shall be determined by the contest jury. The entries of the Top 10 participants per category will be virtually exhibited on Pitik Bulag’s Facebook page on April 27, 2025 (6:00 p.m.). The cartoon (from either of the two categories) that will get the greatest number of reactions by April 29, 2025 (12:00 p.m.) shall garner the “People’s Choice Award”.
The Top 3 winners per category shall be announced on April 29, 2025 (6:00 to 7:00 p.m.), with the following prizes:
–1st Place: 5,000.00 pesos + t-shirt from PLCPD/CRN + certificate
–2nd Place: 3,500.00 pesos + t-shirt from PLCPD/CRN + certificate
–3rd Place: 1,500.00 pesos + t-shirt from PLCPD/CRN + certificate
–People’s Choice Award: 1,500.00 pesos + certificate + t-shirt from PLCPD/CRN + certificate
All winners’ entries will also be published on online channels of Pitik Bulag, CRN, and the PLCPD.
