How Team Philippines fared in Paris Paralympics

MANILA, Philippines – Team Philippines went home empty-handed for the second straight Paralympics, but the six-strong delegation made a good account of themselves in the global showdown for differently-abled athletes.

Here is how the Filipino para athletes fared in the Paris Paralympics:

Cendy Asusano (para athletics)
  • placed fourth in the women’s javelin throw F54, notching the highest finish out of the six Filipino representatives in Paris
  • nailed a new personal best of 15.05 meters, marking the first time she breached the 15-meter mark
  • debuted in the Paralympics

  • started his campaign in the men’s -80kg K44 by beating Hadi Hassanzada of the Refugee Paralympic Team in the round of 32
  • ended his run after losing to Abulfaz Abuzarli of Azerbaijan in the round of 16
  • debuted in the Games after being ruled out of the Tokyo Paralympics due to a positive coronavirus test
